    REWARDS WERE FOR SERVANTS NOT SONS:

    *[[Luk 15:31]] BBE* And he said to him, Son, you are with me at all times, and all I have is yours.

    Many of us are familiar with the story of the 'Prodigal son'. We usually focus on the way the younger son was received by the father and how mean the elder brother was. But Daddy wants us to see more of His love from this story.

    The father had a lot of servants but the elder son chose to work. Now, there is nothing wrong with serving as long as you don't confuse who you are with what you do. The elder son did not just serve, he saw himself as a servant instead of a son.

    He was living life bitter and disappointed towards his dad because he thought he had worked hard enough to deserve some reward. But the father quickly reminded him that he did not need a reward because everything was already his. Paul,in his epistle to the Church in Corinth said this...

    *[[1Co 3:21]] KJV* Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours;

    Beloved, because Papa God did not want you to ever doubt His willingness to give to you, He made you the owner of everything He has. Peter tells us...

    *[[2Pe 1:3]] BSB* His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness....

    The Old Covenant produced servants. And rewards are given base on performance.  So Jesus was not referring to us in the 21st Century when He spoke about rewards...

    *[[Mat 16:27]] KJV* For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

    For after He had made such statement,  He went on to indicate the generation that shall receive the reward in the next verse...

    *[[Mat 16:28]] KJV* Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

    So when you read the parable of the good and faithful servant in Matthew, apply it accordingly...

    *[[Mat 25:23]] WMTH* »`Good and trustworthy servant, you have done well,' his master replied; `you have been trustworthy in the management of a little, I will put you in charge of much: share your master's joy.'«

    The twenty-four elders were also pointing to the folks under the Old Covenant when they spoke about rewards

    *[[Rev 11:18]] T4T* ...You have decided that this is the appropriate time for you to judge all the dead people. You have also decided that it is the time for you to reward all your servants, both the prophets and the rest of your people who reverence you [MTY], whether they were considered socially significant/important or socially insignificant/unimportant. It is time for you to reward all of them!...

    But Beloved, we are not servants of God, we are sons who love to serve. We do not work for rewards becaus all things are already ours. Papa God's 'gift system' puts an end to 'reward system'. You are His heir and the inheritance are gifted to you.  Like the elder brother of the prodigal son, if you are waiting for a reward in the sweet by and by, then you are going to miss the ongoing feast. Shalom!!!
