WHO TOLD YOU SO? (Inquiry Into Truth)

                                                      WHO TOLD YOU SO?
                                                         (Inquiry Into Truth)

*[[Gen 3:11]] NET* And the LORD God said, “Who told you that you were naked?

Oftentimes, I'd meet folks who would come onto my post with the intention to argue and call me names. Unsurprisingly, most of these folks are usually those who follow their pastors or mentors with blind loyalty. They usually come armed with what their pastors have taught them. They'd say, "Pastor so and so said that...".

You see, as much as I love to listen to teachers and preachers of the word, I do them, myself and my hearers a disservice if I don't sit and investigate for myself, that which they've taught me.

No matter what a preacher shares with you, no matter how big their title is, you are responsible and accountable for what you believe and subsequently share with others.

In our opening scripture, we see how the first man,  Adam, believed a lie about himself and yet he was held responsible for the conclusion he made concerning himself.

Throughout scriptures, we see the need to study to show ourselves approved unto God and to rightly divide the word of truth (2 Tim 2:15). That is why personal inquiry into the word is very paramount.

Unfortunately, some preachers don't encourage that. Some in fact, see questioning as an act of challenge or sometimes, disloyalty. But your growth or development depends on it.

After her encounter with Jesus, the Samaritan woman went to 'evangelize' to the men in her town. They all dashed out to go and meet this Jesus they've just heard about. But after they'd met Jesus, this is what they said to the woman...

...now we believe not just because of your word *but we have heard for ourselves and can clearly see that* this man is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world!
    [John 4:42 Mirror Bible]

Did you see that? *"...but we have heard for ourselves and can clearly see...* That means that their faith wasn't based on the woman's conclusion about Jesus, but the conclusion they'd made for themselves based on their own convictions.

Luke commended the Jews of Berea for this attitude. Even after 'almighty' Paul preached to them, they went to study the scriptures for themselves.

*[[Act 17:11]] T4T* ...but the Jews who lived in Berea...listened very eagerly to the message about Jesus. *Every day they read the Scriptures for themselves* to find out if what Paul said about the Messiah was true.

Beloved, do not accept or reject a certain knowledge just because some popular preacher has accepted or rejected it. The gospel is Papa God's big conclusion about you. All He wants you to do is to study for yourself and come to the same conclusion for yourself. Shalom!!!
