(that Which Is Born of The Spirit)
*[[Joh 3:6]] KJV* That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and *that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.*
When Jesus talked about being born of the Spirit, what He meant was being born of the Last Adam...
*[[1Co 15:45]] KJ2000* And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; *THE LAST ADAM WAS MADE a LIFE-GIVING SPIRIT.*
*The Last Adam*
Now, it is important to note that Jesus was referred to as the Last Adam because He was considered the last member of the 'Adam Family'.
Through the First Adam (who also represents the Old Covenant), the human race became slave to sin, death and condemnation...
*[[Rom 5:12]] KJ2000* Therefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
So Jesus came as the last member of Adam's family to undo what the first Adam did. This He did by taking the whole of the Adam family members to the cross. They all died with Him in order to be freed from the slavery they found themselves in. It was necessary for them to die in order to pay the wages of sin (Rom 6:23). Hence there is no descendant of the First Adam today. No one can lay claim to that. Then Jesus gave birth to them as new creations.
*[[Rom 5:18, 21/KJ2000]]* 18. Therefore as by the offense of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. 21. That as sin has reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
The first creation (humanity) was in the first Adam...
*[[1Co 15:22]] KJ2000* For as *in Adam* all die...
(Note that they did nothing to be in Adam. They were in Adam because they descended from him. And they died as a result of what the first Adam did)
The same way, the new creation is in Christ. Not by virtue of something they did, but as a result of what the Last Adam (Jesus) did.
Hence 2 Cor 5:17 is not a conditional statement, but a conclusion of what Christ did...
*[[2Co 5:17]] KJ2000* Therefore *if any man be in Christ*, he is a *new creation:* old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
The apostles therefore understood that to be born from above (a.k.a born again) is not something one becomes by saying a prayer or making a decision (John 1:11-13). They knew it was something that God did once through Christ...
*[[1Pe 1:23]] KJ2000* Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which lives and abides forever.
They understood that they were first born of the First Adam (the Old Covenant which was by the flesh), hence they were awaiting the birth of the Last Adam from above (which represented the New Covenant of promise or Abraham's child of promise). See Galatians 4:23-26.
*[[1Co 15:47-49/KJ2000]]* 47. The first man is of the earth, made of dust: the second man is the Lord from heaven. 48. As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. 49. *And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.*
*CONCLUSION:*
In His conversation with Nicodemus, Jesus was telling him that he would know/see that the kingdom of God had come only when He (Jesus who is from above) has given birth to them anew.
Hence it is impossible to get anyone born again today since none is under the Old Covenant or a descendant of the First Adam. Everyone who is born today, is born into Christ. Selah!!!
