*[[Rom 8:19]] KJ2000* For the earnest expectation of the creation waits for the manifestation of the sons of God.
The term "manifestation" also means revelation (as
in "to reveal"). When they said they were waiting to be manifested,
it means they were waiting to be officially revealed to the world. That is,
their coronation.
The adoption, until then, was between them and the Son
(Jesus) as far as they were concerned.
So they were waiting for the day the Father would crown them officially as
sons. They had mixed feelings. They were once slaves and then they have been
given the assurance of being adopted. So they were wondering, "what will
it be like to be a son?". They weren't sure but they knew someone who was
a Son (Jesus) . They have watched Jesus and have seen the freedom and liberty
that He enjoys. So all they can say is, "We don't really know how it will
feel like to become a son. But we know that we will be Just like Jesus - enjoying
all the rights of Sonship and sharing in the inheritance." This is how
John puts it...
*[[1Jn 3:1-2/T4T]]*
1. Think about how much our heavenly Father loves us! He allows us to ◄say that we are/be called► his children! And it is
indeed true that we are his children.... 2. Dear friends, even though ◄at present/now► we are God's children, he has
not yet ◄made
clear/revealed► to us
what we will be like in the future. However, we know that when Christ comes
back again, we will be like him, because we will see what he is really like.
Let me give you this illustration. At the end of the 2016
Presidential Election in Ghana, the then candidate, Nana Akuffo Addo was
declared the winner. But he was not the president just yet. The Electoral
Commissioner pronounced him winner of the election but he had to wait for his
inauguration as president.
It was at the inauguration that he was glorified. During the
inaugural service, at a point, he was just the winner of the election
(President Elect). But within a short time (in less than 10 minutes) he was
sworn in as the President of the Republic of Ghana. (that is the twinkling of
an eye Paul talked about)
*[[1Co 15:52]] KJ2000* In a moment, in the twinkling of an
eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be
raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
But until Akuffo Addo was sworn in, he did not have the full
rights of a president. He may have had police escort and some privileges but
not a full right of a president. So he had to hold on to the Electoral
Commissioner's declaration. That was his guarantee or assurance of becoming
president at the end.
This is the kind of assurance the first century believers
had.
*[[Eph 1:14]] WMTH* that Spirit being a pledge and foretaste
of our inheritance, in anticipation of its full redemption–the inheritance
which He has purchased to be specially His for the extolling of His glory.
Shalom!!!
