[NLT] 2 Corinthians 5:19 For God was in Christ, reconciling
the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he
gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation.
When we were kids, we were told that God is recording
everything we do here on earth and on the Judgement day, He will mount a giant
screen and play the video for everyone to see. But Jesus came to prove that
that is not the case.
The Greek word translated 'counting' also means to take
inventory (i.e. to take a detail list of something at hand). So the Holy Spirit
through Paul reveals that God was in Jesus Christ making peace with all men regardless
of their sins.
Beloved, your sins, faults, wrongs are not the focus of God.
Unlike humans, God is not waiting to remind you, during prayers, of all the
areas you had it wrong. No! He is your present help in time of need, so be bold
in your prayer and don't permit the accuser to rob you of your joy through
guilt and condemnation. Abba Father loves you unconditionally and has empowered
you to love others the same way. For love does not keep records of wrongs.
